§ 86-1. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Approved residential waste container means that container described in section 86-32.

    Brush means limbs and other cuttings from branches of trees and shrubs.

    Garbage means kitchen and household waste including food containers, but not including sewage or dead animals.

    Hazardous waste means solid waste identified or listed as a hazardous waste by the administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency under the federal Solid Waste Disposal Act, as amended by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976, as amended (42 U.S.C. Section 6901 et seq.).

    Heavy trash means furniture, equipment, shipping boxes and other bulky items, but not building materials.

    Yard waste means leaves, lawn trimmings and other loose plant material.
