§ 8. Extending city limits upon petition.

When persons owning a majority of the land in area in territory adjacent to Baytown desire the annexation of such territory to Baytown, they may present a written petition in accordance with law. The city council after the presentation of said petition may grant the petition and by ordinance annex such territory to Baytown in accordance with law and thenceforth the said territory shall be a part of Baytown, and the inhabitants thereof shall in accordance with law be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of other citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of said city.
